8-Hour Fall Prevention (Site Safety SST Course)
Course Description
This course covers the OSHA Fall Protection Standard for construction and an overview of fall protection methods according to OSHA and DOB regulations.
Course topics include principles of fall protection, components and limitations of fall arrest systems, and OSHA Standards and policies regarding fall protection. Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment, residential construction fall protection and training requirements. Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess compliance with the OSHA Fall Protection Standard and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to avoid hazards associated with elevated work locations. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Explain terms associated with falls in construction

Training Requirement
Per Local Law 196, in order to continue to operate in the City of New York, some workers and supervisors are required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training. This NYC Department of Buildings-Approved curriculum is a prescribed (required) course that fulfills one of the requirements for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training (SST) Card.
Audience
Any personnel that may be exposed to heights or work around fall hazards on construction sites. This curriculum is also a prescribed (required) course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training Card.
Completion Requirements
100% attendance in the course and active participation in all learning activities including review quiz is required to receive a course completion card. Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.
